Great Chicago Fire Fest Event!

THIS TUESDAY, June 3rd, please join the North River Commission and work with us to save 24,934 ash trees in our Chicago parks.

NRC Environmental Committee Meeting

Tuesday, June 3, 2014
7:00 PM
North Park Village Nature Center
5801 N Pulaski Rd, Chicago, IL 60646  (Map)
Free parking is available.
Although all park issues are welcome and open for discussion, the primary thrust will be how to save the remaining ash trees in local parks from destruction by the Emerald Ash Borer. There were originally over 25,000 ash located on park property and until last September, the Park District did not allow the trees to be treated and saved. However, the mechanism is now in place to allow local park councils to treat the remaining trees with donated funds. Only 66 ash trees have been treated so far on park property and any untreated tree will die within the next few years.
Horner Park Ash TreesPark and park council representatives will be on hand to explain the process and discuss strategies. In addition, there will be a brainstorming session on successful fundraising techniques. NRC's area includes over 15 local parks - so join a wide and diverse group of fellow park supporters for a lively exchange of ideas and strategies.

We hope you can join us! Again, all park issues are welcome to be brought up for discussion.
Please invite your friends, family, and neighbors. If you have questions regarding the meeting please contact us:
At our next Environmental Committee meeting, we will provide an update on the city's flood abatement progress and a discussion on new water harvesting strategies and programs. Stay tuned.
