North Park Village

E-mail Print PDF

Nestled in a quiet corner of our community is the gem NRC is committed to protect as a free and public site: North Park Village (NPV). Through the North River Coalition to Save the MTS, the community fought to save the former Municipal Tuberculosis Sanitarium site from becoming a mega-shopping center and condo development in the late 1970s, and have fought multiple times over the last 30 years to fend off hungry developers wanting to turn the 155-acre site into parking lots, condos and ticketing facilities.

Today, NRC works closely with the community-led North Park Village Advisory Council (NPVAC) to protect North Park Village by advocating extending its easement into perpetuity and helping to create and implement the greening plan that includes installing solar panels and rain gardens.

Recently, we celebrated the new shuttle bus for senior residents that the Office of General Services helped secure with the NPVAC. All community members are welcome and encouraged to attend the Advisory Council meetings which are held the third Wednesday every other month starting in January at the Administration Building.
