My intention with my public work is to create visually compelling and iconic pieces with the hope that they will become neighborhood landmarks that would serve as both reminder and inspiration of what we aspire to. When creating the Local Heart mural I wanted it to be something simple and symbolic with a sense of life and energy that would speak to, represent and reflect the heart of the community and the people that make it up. Albany Park is such a culturally rich neighborhood and it also happens to be the neighborhood that I have personally lived in the last 20 years so it was a really a great experience to get to do what I do so close to home.
