Position Description:

Youth Development Coordinator for the North River Youth Council

North River Commission (NRC) seeks two part-time Youth Development Coordinators with responsibilities to work with high school students, school administrators, external partners, and other related project staff in the delivery of the Illinois Department of Human Services’s Special Appropriations Grant objectives. This work will be carried out through the North River Youth Council (NRYC), a civic engagement and youth leadership-based program for high school students on the northwest side of Chicago. This is a 1099 contract position with an end date of June 30, 2025.

Summary
The Youth Development Coordinator, part of a four-person team, will recruit high school students, manage the application process, and facilitate weekly council meetings for the North River Youth Council (NRYC). Coordinators will guide students in creating a community impact project and support logistics, scheduling, and program quality. They will also coordinate civic engagement activities and connect students with higher education opportunities at Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU). Strong organizational skills and flexibility are key in this fast-paced role.

Position Description:

Youth Development Coordinator for the Pre-Apprenticeship Program

North River Commission (NRC) seeks two part-time Youth Development Coordinators with responsibilities to work with high school students, school administrators, external partners, and other related project staff in the delivery of the Department of Human Services’s Special Appropriations Grant objectives. This work will be carried out through the Pre-Apprenticeship Program (PAP), a workforce development and youth leadership-based program for students at Roosevelt High School. This is a 1099 contract position with an end date of June 30, 2025

Summary
The Youth Development Coordinator, part of a four-person team, oversees the Pre-Apprenticeship Program (PAP) with support from the Education Program Manager. Responsibilities include student recruitment, managing afterschool sessions at Roosevelt High School, and coordinating with partner NEIU. The role involves guiding capstone projects, aligning programming with objectives, and organizing workforce development activities like Career Days. Coordinators also facilitate NEIU campus visits to explore higher education opportunities. Strong organizational skills and flexibility are essential in this fast-paced role.
