NRC Community Education Event: How Are You An Ally to Public Education?

Tuesday, February 4th 6:30-8:30pm

Volta Elementary School, 4950 N. Avers

The event will begin with an information sharing session with community organizations who support public education, local students and families from 6:30-7pm. This will provide attendees the chance to learn about resources in their neighborhood, and create connections between organizations.

Then speakers from the public, private, and philanthropic sectors will present a ten-minute response to the following question: How are you an ally to public education? We have secured representatives from the American Indian Center – Chicago, Arts Alliance Illinois, The Kedzie Center, SEL Chicago, and 39th Ward Alderman Samantha Nugent. Their presentations will begin at 7pm and end by 8pm.

To conclude from 8-8:30pm we invite attendees to further engage with community organizations, hopefully acting on information received during the presentation. We hope all will be inspired to become greater allies to public education in our community.

6:30-7:00pm: Tabling & networking
7:00-8:00pm: Presentations & call to action
8:00-8:30pm: Engagement with organizations
