RHS NRC Parent Community Programs

November 23, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

RHS & NRC Parent and Community Programming

North River Commission is partnering with Roosevelt High School to offer five Saturdays of free parent and community programming in both English and Spanish throughout the school year. Each Saturday will focus on a different relevant topic, with two 45-60 minute workshops facilitated by experts on the subject matter. These topics include immigration, social emotional learning, health and wellbeing, exploring the arts, and college access and summer opportunities.

Please join us for our first Saturday of programming on November 23rd 10am-12pm in Roosevelt’s library, 3436 W. Wilson. At 10am Organized Communities Against Deportations(OCAD) will be facilitating a Know Your Rights Training. At 11am Shriver Center on Poverty Law and World Relief Chicago will be presenting on the Public Charge Rule and its implications for immigrants and refugees. 33rd Ward AldermanHANA Center and Heartland Health Centers will also be present to answer questions and offer resources. An Open House for 8th grade students will be happening simultaneously. Feel free to drop in for one or both of the workshops, and learn more about Roosevelt High School.

Free parking will be available in the school’s lot, located behind the school, entrance on Leland. Light refreshments will be offered as well. Please stay tuned for future programming dates and presenters. Looking forward to seeing you in a few weeks!

Funds for these activities were provided by the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) grant awarded to the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) Community Schools Initiative (CSI).
